Lydia Lovett. Downtown. (Lydia Deets, Beetlejuice.)
Growing up Downtown, you‘d think that Lydia would have a positive outlook on life. You‘d be very, very wrong. Lydia is very often imaginative and creative, but falls short of social. Her and her sister, Nellie, often but heads, as the two are very different. Once you get to know Lydia, she’s very sarcastic and strange, but loyal and a good person at heart. 

Johanna Oakley. Uptown. (Johanna Barker, Sweeney Todd.)
Johanna often thinks of herself as haunted. Not that she’s not happy. She just thinks of herself as… Lost. And insane, most of the time. She has nightmares that plague her, and she often doesn‘t interact with people too much. But now that she’s back in Burton, the town she was born in, she’s starting to feel like she belongs. Johanna finds herself attracted to Anthony Hope, but isn‘t sure how to handle strong emotions like love. Nellie Lovett seems to be Johanna’s best friend, but she can‘t help feeling that there’s more to it than that. For some strange reason, Johanna finds herself drawn towards none other than Benjamin Todd.

Benjamin was separated from his younger sister, Johanna, years ago when his parents died, and they were sent off to seperate homes. He’s always waited for her to return, or for the day when he can leave Burton and look for her. Ben is constantly loosing control of his temper, and scares many people away - though he can’t seem to get rid of Nellie Lovett. His best friend is Tobias, who is constantly faithful to him. Ben has absolutely no self control, and is very vulnerable, therefore keeping people at bay. Except he can’t seem to get rid of Lucy.

Nellie is malicious. Evil. Deceitful. Well, not really. But some refer to her using those terms. She’s known to always (or always try to) get her way. She’s infatuated with Benjamin Todd, and has made sure that she’s grown close to him. Everything she tells him, however, are lies - and there is no real love there. She acts very motherly towards Toby, but uses him as well.  She’s close to Johanna, acting as an older sister - believing that the girl could prove useful for her. She soon discovers that Johanna is the one that Ben’s been looking for, and uses her knowledge to her advantage.
